It's that time of year again, and The Tour of California is upon us again. Yep, remember last year when we woke up one day to find a big inflated tire outside our window? Yep, that again.
The bicyclists have been riding around our neighborhood for the past few days, weaving in and out of traffic, looking to see how they can attempt the hills on Stockton and Lombard Streets. Street dividers have already been put in place on Bay. Eastbound traffic on Bay is extremely quiet. I'm sure the traffic on the Embarcadero is going to be nasty in a few hours. Like last time, this is the Prologue to the seven-part race.
As for the inflatable tire, I don't see it yet, but then again last year they'd started a lot earlier and had it up much earlier. I'm wondering if it's actually going to be there this time. But I do know that the major turning point--literally--on this track takes place right outside my window. It's all flat until this corner, and then it's ALL uphill up to Coit Tower. Check out the map here.
ETA: Yup, the Maxxis tire made its return... :)

Oh, and some apparently disgruntled driver just drove by in a beat-up silver Dodge screaming obscenities. I have no idea what he was going on about, but I was rather amused by all the traffic police shaking their head saying "shut up and move on, people..." :p
