All I needed was Love...
Nov. 25th, 2006 02:40 pmBought: the new Beatles cd Love, the remixed/re-edited/reconfigured album of songs used in the newest Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas.
Verdict: Okay, for those of you who know me well, I'm a Beatles geek. Not a purist by any means, and not so much a collector as one who simply adores their music in any version/repackaging/remixing they happen to release it as. So of course unlike some of the reviews I've seen about it so far, I'm not about to say "well, they didn't do squat for this song" or "they completely tore this song apart" or something like that. The Beatles embraced creativity and experimentation in their music fully. A lot of their great sounds, especially in their later years, were borne out of happy accidents (and, to tell the truth, a lot of rebelling against the studio suits who wouldn't dare attempt most of the things they did).

THIS ALBUM KICKS ASS. BIG TIME.
Two thumbs way way WAY up, Giles Martin. You did good. So did your dad. :)
