Like a Big Pizza Pie
Oct. 8th, 2006 11:58 amThis weekend promises to be VERY busy. Yesterday we had the Blue Angels flying overhead (we were downtown at the time, selling off cds, but seeing them fly in perfect formation and aligned with Post Street was quite impressive), we had the Li'l Punk Kids playing covers at St. Peter & Paul's Church up the street, and when the festivities died down yesterday at about 5pm, the traffic in the neighborhood didn't die down until at least 7:30. I was even surprised that we had a backup going up the Stockton Street hill last night. And of course I was doing laundry so it was quite amusing to try and fight the foot traffic in front of our own apartment just to get to the laundry room...
Today, we've got more airshows, an Italian Heritage Parade (starting at Jefferson and heading up Columbus through North Beach, natch), and at the moment we can hear the bands warming up by playing scales. There were two antique-looking trucks going by earlier, filled with people and blaring Dean Martin. This promises to be a rather busy day here in North Beach/Fisherman's Wharf...like I said, never a dull moment here... :)
The traffic is already building up, as I'm guessing that Jefferson Street (the Wharf's main drag) is now closed down and everything's rerouted down North Point and Bay. I am so glad that we don't have to drive anywhere today, or we'd be screwed.
On the homefront, Emm and I have done some serious cleaning about the house, her vacuuming and starting up with the packing for our trip, and me doing some heavy-duty cleaning of the kitchen. I can now throw hefty praise on the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, as we now have very clean counters, grease catchers, and floor. But now my hands hurt from the insane amount of scrubbing...ah well, the price I pay...
And later on, when it opens, we'll be stopping by the SF Public Library branch in our neighborhood to drop off some books (and I'm donating last year's Writer's Market to them) and perhaps stop by Radio Shack to get a doowacky s we can play music from our mp3s through our rental car's system. Oh, the excitement... :p
