Oh yeah, I have this LJ too...
Jun. 9th, 2006 04:20 pmFor those of you aren't part of the
die_joncswerk flist, I've been posting over there over the last few days, what with me doing some heavy-duty work on Gabriel & Cassandra in order to get an edited and tidied-up Chapter 1 and a summary for the rest of the book (which i still haven't done yet) in time for the Writer's Workshop at WorldCon.
Long story short (pardon the pun), I've read Chapter 1 about three or four times so far and I'm still debating what to (temporarily) cut. There are some passages that can and should be rewritten, simply because it needs to tie in correctly with the rest of the novel, but I'm still hedging on parts and debating if I should cut them out entirely or just for the sake of having a shorter word count. We'll see.
In other news...
My temp job will be ending sometime in July, so it's time for me to start looking again. The good thing is that my boss is being very cool about it by making sure there's a good transition when I get something new through the same agency. Who knows, maybe I'll still be loyal to the Bank of America in a few months. I do appreciate their help, though, and this is the first time in awhile where I haven't been nervous about leaving a position.
Still other news...
Met an old college friend last night, who happens to live right here in SF. I haven't seen her since, oh, 1991 or 1992? It was certainly strange when we finally met, and just started talking as if we picked up right where we left off. We spent a few hours at a nice (and expensive)(and very aromatic in a good way) pizza joint filling in the gaps, who's in touch with whom, where people are now, and so on. We're hoping to meet up again at some point, and we're both keeping an ear out for potential Emerson gatherings, which she informs me happens at least once a year here. Cool!
Still still other news...
Haibane Renmei is fast becoming our favorite anime of the moment, and quite possibly one of my all-time favorites, right up there with AKIRA and the first Gall Force movie. We'd picked up Vols 1, 2 & 4 and just got vol. 3 in the mail, so now we have the whole set. Amazingly written, beautifully drawn, and great music to boot. Definitely worth checking out.
And in older news...
This damn cold won't go away. I'm not sick or completely stuffed up, just still a little sniffly and coughing now and again. Damn allergies... X(
Oh, and like I said, changed my moods back to dragons. I realized that the dragons have more facial expressions than Frank the Goat does. Come to think of it, that's the one problem I have with the mood icons. At least the dragons have more diversity (and color)!
That's all for now! More soon when I have something more exciting to talk about besides my writing. ;)
