Our July 4th Plans...
Jun. 2nd, 2006 10:32 pmI hate to make this sound like one of those holiday newsletters, what with all the "hey, look what's happening in San Francisco!"...and I have to apologize to
wizardru because I just found out yet more neat stuff. Also, sorry to
juniperblue and
dasmarzipan, since they'll be leaving the day before!! :(
But yeah...the Fourth. Here is the official website for the Fourth. I know, the site says it's on a Monday, and it threw me as well, but it is in fact this year's schedule. If you click on the map you'll see our neighborhood (we're on the corner of Bay and Stockton, waaaay off to the bottom right).
First off, looks like our local fireworks are going to be LOCAL. As in, down the street near the Aquatic Park. So I don't think we'll have a problem watching...that is, unless it's foggy, which I hear it's threatening to be.
Secondly, right down the street at Pier 39 will be two cover bands, both of which I think
head58 would love to see: Double Funk Crunch, doing dancy songs from the 70s to the 90s (with a little jazz and a few standards thrown in). Then there's Tainted Love. I think the name says it all. Highly suggested you check out the links just to see their song lists. The TL site has an animated opening w/sound, just so you know.
So yeah. Great that we can do pretty much everything for the fourth without having to either drive to the next town or park two miles away. Haven't done that myself since I lived in Boston!
