At least I had a perfectly viable reason

This is why I was late for work today: a fire broke out next door to the building I work at. Although it was a 3-alarm fire, it doesn't look like too much damage, as it's a mostly concrete building and it was abandoned (that, and it's only about 3 floors high). Left a nice smoky smell in our building for most of the day, though, which was rather annoying...

Yet more fun in our neighborhood

The North Beach Festival is a two-day street festival that is apparently the oldest one in the country and a hell of a lot of fun. And it's right up the street at Washington Square! :) It's June 17th and 18th so it should be an interesting weekend. Lots of food, crafts, and music.

And this band will be playing on Saturday. :p (Hey, they are a local band...)

There has been a bit of a stink being raised though, as the city isn't giving out a liquor permit for the festival. I can understand why, as in the past there have been a few altercations due to drunken idiots, but on the plus side there are loads of bars on Columbus (not to mention on Broadway too) that people could stop at. As well as Rogue which has some deeeeeeelicious Chocolate Stout.
