So let's see...today we decided to go to the Haight and do some shopping, but first, we went to our usual weekend watering hole, Tiernan's.

(Oh wait--let me preface this--I heard from my friend Rob on Friday, unfortunately he was unable to come up to SF this weekend, as he's having some work done on his house. He would come next weekend, but due to scheduling with his sister down in San Jose, it wouldn't work out. So his visit is TBA for now.)

Anyway, there was what seemed to be a party of senior citizens taking up a good portion of the floor at Tiernan's, but we managed to find a corner for ourselves and have some delicious food. And of course I had another Tiernan's Ale. Not as good as Rogue's Ale, but tasty nonetheless.

We then decided we were going to take the cable car over to Market and hop on the L-train from there, but there was a bit of a line, so we decided that picking up the 47 bus, heading down Van Ness to Market and hopping on the train would be easier.

Fifteen minutes later, a bus FINALLY comes. And. Proceeds. To. Take. A. Half. Hour. Stopping. At. Every. Stop. Until. We. Said. HELL WITH IT and jumped off two stops early and hoofed it.

Finally we make it to the Haight (after needing to hop over a man of questionable mental ability sitting on the steps of the train), where we head to Amoeba. Emm proceeds to find exactly one dvd to buy (we've been good on that lately) and then hides in an inconspicuous corner to read her book while I look for stuff. Including the Roma 79 cd I'd been looking for! Which, by the way, I found in the discount bin for $1.99! WOOOT!

Okay, after that we went to various stores, including the bag store where I'd bought a guitar case for my acoustic a month ago (I bought a messenger bag to replace the aging bookbag I've been using), the arts & crafts store (where, once I have the time and more space, I plan on frequenting so I can pick up drawing painting supplies), and finally to what I called the Coffee Shop of the Proletariat: Coffee to the People.

This place is pretty cool, has a lot of good coffees at decent prices, and best of all, they have a Game Night on the first Saturday of every month. So when all of you come visit, there's a place you can play. And they had Settlers of Catan there as well! :p

So after that? We decide to wait for another bus, the 71, to take us to the Ferry Building.

And we wait.

And wait.

And wait.

Finally, twenty minutes later and still no bus, we flag down a taxi to bring us home. The taxi driver must have watched Bullitt recently. Speeding through the streets of this city is quite the experience, especially heading down Franklin. Hey, who needs the Superman ride when you've got SF taxis, eh? :)

Man, what a day. A little too much waiting for my liking, but we did what we set out to do. And it's still light out!

On board for tomorrow: much laundry (me), writing (me) and work (Emm)!

In the meantime, here's a pic I took today of the kitties next door who greet us in their usual cat ways nearly every morning...
