First off, I've changed my default icon to the sea lions. Go me! :p
I spent the morning driving down to San Francisco Airport to drop off Emm (she's down in LA having a good time with
dasmarzipan as we speak, and will hang there for a few days before a quick roadtrip to Dallas). As she got out of the car she smiled and said "it's your birthday, go out and play," since it's such a gorgeous day out today. Not too chilly, either. So after getting back to drop off the car and check for yesterday's mail, I jumped on the wonder that is SF Muni and headed out to the Haight district to check out Amoeba Music. I'm sure you all saw that picture I posted some months back of the enormity of the place, so yeah, it was bigger than it had any right to be. I found myself walking down aisles muttering to myself, "this is just wrong..."
Anyhoo, picked up 8 cds but only spent $16.21--yes, I dove into the used clearance pile, which was buy 3, get one free. This is what I got...
--David Bowie, Earthling (because I actually reeeeally like this album)
--The Charlatans UK, Some Friendly (simply because it's an awesome early 90s cd)
--Land of the Loops, Bundle of Joy (some might remember "Multi-Family Garage Sale" back in 1996...)
--Live, Secret Samadhi (the one Live album I don't have)
--Luscious Jackson, In Search of Manny EP (because that's the only LJ Emm doesn't have)
--Pearl Jam, Yield (the one PJ album we don't have on cd)
--Tribe, Here at the Home EP (yes, I said "HOLY SH*T!" in the middle of the store...this one's hella hard to find, especially since they were a Boston band that never made it big)
--The Wolfgang Press, Queer (the UK version, which is quite different than the US release)
So yeah, I'm spending my birthday alone in San Francisco, listening to used cds. Why does this not surprise me in the least?? :p No biggie, since Emm's going to be back on Wednesday...just hope that I hear from the temp agencies (and/or the other places I've applied) soon!!
Oh, and thanks to my sisters Kat and Nancy for getting me Napster and iTunes cards! Now to figure out what songs I want to download... :)
