We have transportation!

We weren't expecting the car so early, but it is now sitting in the parking garage down the street. We plan on moving it the day after tomorrow when our apartment is ready for moving in.

Best line from the guy who dropped our car off:

(pointing at the grime and filth that's covering the car, specifically the shmutz on the NEW windshield)
"See that? That's Pennsylvania."

Apparently his drive was fine and uneventful except for a 100-mile stretch of bad weather. The rest of the drive through that state was fine, with clear, if slushy and dirty, roads.

Now all we need is the rest of our stuff.

I WANT MY COMPUTER BACK, DAMMIT! :p

Tuesday Update

Okay, this is turning into a boring "What Is Jonc Doing This Time" newsletter. I promise I won't go too overboard with all this! ;)

So anyway. Things done today:

--bought 2 MUNI maps today. Now if there's a BART map available somewhere, I'll buy that too. Public transportation GOOD!
--inadvertently found office for Randstad, one of my temp agencies from back East. Stopped by and said info is on its way.
--found a few temp agencies listed online. As soon as I have resume in hand I will forward them.
--tried to call our rental place but she wasn't in. Will try later.
--am in the process of finding nifty and useful things for us online, like local library branches and whatnot.
--stopped at Walgreens for stuff. Will need to stop by again to pick up stuff I forgot!
--called home and told the family I'm here and everything's groovy
NEW!--emailed resume to a few temp agencies and created a resume specifically for this laptop.

And, things to be done this week:
--pick up keys for apartment on Thursday
--stop at Safeway down the street from apt to buy non-food necessities
--email resume to temp agencies (I do believe I have a version of it on one of those online job search sites. I can just c&p and go from there)
--drive car up to new place and park it in the garage
--set up a time with movers so I can be there when they bring stuff in
NEW!--email resume to MORE temp agencies as well as other jobs I might find on craigslist.
