So! I was told today, very near to the end of my shift, that TODAY, not next Friday, was to be my last day as a temp! Can't say that I didn't see it coming, as our workload has been a joke lately (we'd handed over the bulk of it to another branch at the beginning of the month and we were basically picking up the slack). In fact I was kind of hoping that they'd do this, as I was getting quite bored with going in and barely doing anything.

So yeah, they could have informed us at least a few days in advance, but I have to admit that I'm not angry, as I'll be starting the new job as a full-time employee of BofA on the first of August. It just could have been planned better, as there were a few temps there who were suddenly like "oh shit, I'm out of a job" (luckily one was actually given a rather nice offer when he wasn't expecting it at all), but for the most part everything worked out for everyone. My leftover personal stuff is now down on the 5th floor where I'll be working, I dropped my badges off (and will be getting new badges when the new job starts), and my old desk is already cleaned off.

Which means I have a week in which to do whatever I want. Which means that if I don't get some writing done, I'm going to have to kick my own ass but good.

Something told me today was going to be a strange day...I tell you, the temp gets above 75 degrees and everything in this town goes loopy... :p

It's actually a strategy with temps to help prevent any potential sabotage from people who don't get offers.

Shitty for the people on the receiving end, but safer for the company.

Congrats, and as a bit of advice - call in to the Benefits Center on the first of August to sign up for your health benefits, if you're taking them.

If you call in on the 2nd, they won't kick in until the 1st of September.

And if you get a nice lady named Donna on the line, with a New York accent, tell her to wave to her cubie.

That would be me. :)

Congrats again!

Thanks! And thanks for the heads up! I think they'll probably contact me on that Monday (the 31st) so I can go in and get my new badges and whatnot. I won't be getting health bennies, as I'm already under my wife's, but I will go with the other goodies that come with the job. :p But if I do get Donna, I'll be sure to have her wave. :)

Ooh! Thanks for reminding me--I have to call the temp agency and tell them I got hired full-time! :p

Yeah, that's what someone else said to me. They were saying to us that they'd hold us until the end, but I think they should have trusted us with at least a day's notice! Sheesh!
