I went last year and I can barely take it. Not the geek factor, necessarily. This has professional geek written all over it...and there is so much talent and entrepreneurial genius walking around, they float slightly over the line of geek. But there is SO much, it's SO crowded, food is SO expensive, the lines are evil...yeah...I can only handle one day, really. But professionally, I think it's a wise thing. :D
Artists rent booths and sell their own artwork. There is also an art show and an art gallery. This is what I'm going to be checking out.
As for your writing? Self publish and get your name known. That's one option. Go to cons as a professional. Don't wait for others to give you that name. Take it.
That's the route I'm going to take. I just have to get to the point where I'm publically showing it off!
