Another visit to the San Francisco Zoo
May. 7th, 2006 05:52 pmOn a whim we went out there and spend the afternoon checking out the animals again. It seemed to be a lazy day for everyone involved, as almost every animal there was off in the shade or in some cave or pit passed out sleeping! :p We made it to the cat feeding this time, which was quite fascinating to see. They don't so much throw food in as they wrap it up in things or hide it, so the cats have to work for it. At one point the lion jumped up on this built-in ledge to swat at a hanging object that the food was hiding in, and everybody just made an "Ooooh!" sound at the same time. The lion stopped, looked at all of us, and had a sort of "yeah, I know...that was cool, wasn't it?" look before finally grabbing his food and munching away. ;)
Here's some of the better pictures...unfortunately a lot of the pictures involved many of the animals sleeping! :p
Two giraffes playing...well, nudging each other, at any rate...

Mrs. Lion Showing off to the Crowd:

Mr. and Mrs. Lion not so much chatting as yawning at each other:

The newest additions--two black swans imported from Australia:

A very photogenic and friendly prairie dog:

And lastly...
LEMUR!!!
