1901 - Queen Victoria I of the United Kingdom (b. 1819)
1973 - Lyndon B. Johnson, President of the United States (b. 1908)
1994 - Telly Savalas, American actor (b. 1924)

And of course, in 1971, the world's best SF writer is born. ;)
