...in downtown San Francisco. Saw a few apartments today, saw one just on the border of Chinatown that's REALLY nice and just about the perfect size for us. The building manager just called about ten minutes ago and asked if we were serious about the apartment and so she could expedite the application. I told her to go for it. The only problem with this apartment was the KILLER hill on Pine Street (like the mgr said, they call it Nob Hill for a reason... ;) ) Emm and I were joking earlier that if we ended up with this apartment so soon, we'd have the remaining few days to just hang out. Which of course would be cool... :)

...

The flight was uneventful, except for a few nice surprises:
--flying over Lake Erie and seeing the shore of Canada in the distance (and seeing Cleveland and thinking "been there, done that..." :p )
--flying over Chicago and being impressed by the sprawl (and waving hi to my brother-in-law whom I still haven't met yet)
--flying over the Rockies. WOW. Just....wow. All I can say is, John Denver was right.
--flying into San Francisco, and thinking to myself...I'm home. And then a little later on, when we went to eat, realizing, it's not we're thinking of moving here...it's that we ARE moving here. Within the MONTH.

So yeah. It's finally really sinking in. For real this time.

Freaky.

We'll let you all know what'll happen from here on in. The woman we talked to today said that she'll expedite the application and let us know within the next 48-72 hours. Will let everyone know what happens next.

Now, for cartoons!! :D

When you flew into SF, you said, "I'm home." was that because you felt at-home in San Francisco, or was it because it was sinking in, slowly but surely???

Am curious 'cause I've run into people who say that they've visited places and have a felt an immediate connection with the place, the people, the culture, etc. I have yet to encounter that myself...and to be honest, I don't know that it happens to everyone. I know that my family is home to me - (li'l tidbit re: me... I was feeling really homesick...thought it was MD and YET was fine when my folks and brothers were visiting me out here. It ain't the city...I'm your example of "home is where the heart is".) But it wouldn't be a horrible thing to find a connection with the city I'm living in, either.

John Denver...my mortal enemy!! Thank god I was able to defeat him!!!

Oh, and also thank Emma for Stellaluna - I love it! I'll send her an email, but I don't have access to her address from work. :)

Oooooo!

Good luck with getting the apartment!

(and since we're just now starting the moving process, I envy your progress!)
