Thanks! As soon as I saw that picture on Shutterstock I fell in love with it and knew that was the one. So much so that I wasted a good half hour on hold with them trying to get my payment to go through! Now THAT is dedication. ;)
I'm debating the font for the title, but I keep coming back to this one. It's unexpected, because it looks like it's going to be litfic (which it's not, obviously), but I also wanted to avoid the stereotypical flourishy fantasy fonts, or the Manly Hard SF font as well.
The tricky balance here is that I want the image to be just this side of unique--not so over the top that it's ridiculous, but not so typical of all the other books that it gets lost in the mix. Just enough so that passive browsers will stop on it for a few seconds and say 'hmm, this looks interesting'. If that happens, I've done my job.
One thing I did was look at the picture on my phone and shrink the picture to about an inch square...I was still able to read the title (and just about make out my name), and you could still tell it's a cityscape, so I think I did good. :)
