Oh, and on the way back we stopped at Twin Peaks, the 2nd-highest points in the city...and this was a perfect day for some panoramic pix! :)
Looking east at Downtown SF--Market Street is the main drag there.
Looking north. The large park midpicture is the eastern end of Golden Gate Park with part of the Panhandle. Haight-Ashbury is just south of the Panhandle. The other park just to the north of it is the southern part of the Presidio. And hey! Some famous bridge in the background! :p That's the beautiful Marin Headlands across the bay.
Looking northeast. Angel Island is the tall island in the bay, with Alcatraz right near it. The big tree-filled hill in the foreground is Buena Vista Park, just off Haight Street. I'd say if anything, this is the general direction of our place, just over all those hills and near the edge of the bay.
And here's an interesting one for you:
Doesn't look too interesting, eh? In this shot:
--Mt Diablo in the distance, the largest mountain in the area
--Oakland and Alameda in across the bay, including the former airfield (that brownish area sticking out into the bay) more recently known for where they filmed the highway sequence in Matrix Revolutions as well as many Mythbusters explosions and crashes!
--AT&T Park (waaaaaaaaaay off to the left and you'll have to blow it up to see it, but it's there)
--Potrero Hill neighborhood (that hill in the middle right)--Mythbusters Central (aka M5) is on the opposite southern side of that hill
--the Mission District (this side of Potrero Hill)
--Noe Valley (in foreground) (yes, it's on a hill, go figure)
If anything, this city is definitely picturesque. ;)
