Dude, there's ALWAYS a glut of vampire-related stories. We're just at the height of a dual-cycle right now, what with Twilight and Charlain Harris' vampire books being very hot right now.
And just like Harry Potter brought out tons of imitators (both good and bad), so too has Twilight brought out its share of them (again, both good and bad).
I just downloaded some Sherlock Holmes from Project Guttenberg, myself. :)
