I always thought it was the long pants I wear year-round that keep my legs white the longest. :)
I also second the Goo Gone for taking off the stickers, it works really well. Just be careful what you get it on because it will start working on a variety of finishes.

And it shades your lower legs, which is why they stay white the longest.
