This is why I can't have nice things

Hey [livejournal.com profile] head58...

What's the OS you have on your PC, and what version of that Reaper music software did you use with it?

Reason I ask, I downloaded it this afternoon, and now none of my USB ports want to read my thumb drive. Yeah, I know, weird-ass thing to go kerflooey, but this isn't the first time this PC has rendered something useless when I upload software (you know the Media Monkey drama I had a few months previous). I have Windows 7/64-bit, so I'm wondering if that's what you have and if you had the same issue.

EDIT: Okay, thanks to System Restore I can use my thumb drive again, but still...I really would like to know what happened and which version I probably should download so this doesn't happen again... *scratches head*

I'm using XP and Reaper 3.63. Weird.

Yeah, that is weird. I think it's Windows 7 that's causing this, as this is exactly what happened with the MM debacle--an update in the software doesn't jive with W7 or at least the 64-bit version of it, and causes some peripheral not to work (with MM it was the cd drive). Mayhap I'll do a bit more research before I download it again. I do see they have various versions for different OS's, so perhaps I'll pop on their forum for suggestions.
