More about writing...

Hmm.

At this point in the game, as all of you probably know, I've temporarily set aside the hulking trilogy that I've been working on over the last few years, quite possibly because it's a behemoth that's gotten a little out of my control. And it's so close to the end, too, which annoys me.

But on the plus side, I've been picking up various side projects and playing around with them, writing and whatnot, which makes me happy.

It occurs to me, though, that I really don't want to give up the world that I built up over the last ten or so years that led to not only the trilogy but also one "demo version" and one incomplete different story set in an earlier version of that same world. So I'm thinking that instead of trying to start over from scratch with the trilogy (that would make Major Rewrite II, btw), I should make an exhaustive file of everything I have of this world, and see where I go from there. I know this world very well, and I'm sure I could find a lot to do with it.

So this means that I may just have to go buy another notebook, something I really shouldn't do. :p

(Thanks to Emm for the original suggestion of writing while at work... ;) )

We ahve so many notebooks in the house already, you don't need to buy one!

How many blank ones are there?

I'm actually going to use a three-ring binder and some lined paper, as I know I'll be doing a lot of shuffling around...

I know how you feel, so utterly. But yay for the picking up of various side projects! I finally managed to get writing today again -- the wonders of the metro when one hasn't a book to read or a seatmate! But I've been feeling so dulled lately, I just can't seem to write, rather, it doesn't occur to me. Which is so highly depressing. But I think I'm re-inspired...and I've been thinking a lot about this current story, too, so it's bee useful non-writing time. But I have many worlds I've invested so much time in that I've ceased to write in, but they keep growing, and I'm always thinking I should do something with them...so let me know if the notebook collecting works for you!

And are we talking like regular notebooks of the spiral bound variety or similar? I say splurge and buy a nice, fresh new one with the cover color you like, because seriously that always really helps me. *hearts* new notebooks for writing!

Yup, that's been me for the last eight months or so. I just dried out. Then again, I'd been writing almost nonstop for two years straight, doing almost a thousand words a day, so I think I finally ran out of gas. ;) But yeah, this little project promises to be interesting. :D

As for notebooks, I have more than enough spiral-bound notebooks still at my old home in MA, but those I usually use for new stories. For this project I'll be using three-ring binders and a lot of notebook paper. I plan to go through all the different versions of this story that I have and write everything down for reference, and see where I go from there.

Of course, this will be happening while I'm working on something completely new--the Gabriel and Cassandra story (I like to describe it as a vampire hunter/comedy/love story, and I'm having a hell of a lot of fun writing it!)

And thanks for the kudos!! :D

Are you sure it's not that you are spending your vital energies on nookie instead of writing?
