Ah, the Sounds of Spring...

As I'd said to Lynxie today, you know it's springtime when the weather is completely crappy outside but it's warm. And right now it's pretty damn windy, which of course makes sense because I'm nearly on top of a hill overlooking the town. And I've just lost the satellite on the tv, so I can't get anything in on tv, damn it.

On a side note, I've gotten used to the New Jersey version of a fire alarm, which is basically the wrrrrrrroooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooorrrrrrr of an air raid siren, though I still find it weird. Then again, Athol's version of a fire alarm (the weird-sounding ngarrrnk.....ngarrrrrnk of repeating klaxons) must sound weird to non-Atholites.

And on another sidenote, I see that Pope John Paul II has died. Though it's sad to hear, I'm glad that he's no longer going through the suffering he's had for so many years. RIP and Bless You, Father.

We've got the same kind of siren in MD. When I was in grade school, I always fancied we were under attack, since in WW2 movies that kind of alarm only sounded when it was going to be followed by a plane attack. Creepy, I'll admit.

Amen, Brother!

..and as I wrote to someone else, it's going to take a long time for me
to not have the image of John Paul II in my head whenever someone happens to mention "The Pope". I've been around longer than he has been the Pope, so I should remember the previous ones, but he's the only one who stands out in my mind because he was with us for so long!

Hey Mon Petit Frere,
Since you haven't responded to my emails/IM (ok, everyone, let's hear a collective "boo" to my brother!)and I'm too lazy to create an account, I'm going to pretend I know how to use this chat device and drop you a line and hope it goes thru..
Glad to hear life is progressing in NJ.
Job ends in 5 days ("booo!") but I have 3 resumes out there. The good news is I'm writing again. Not daily but every other day..better than before! I want to finish another story to send to either "Cicada" or "Cricket" mags...
Anyhoo, gotta run. "Hey!" to the roomies!
Later,
Kat

I actually haven't talked to my own brother in MONTHS(not mad or anything, we're just both slackers), so i probably shouldn't talk. :-)
And the trip is going very well, thanks!

I hate to tell you this sweetie, but I'm pretty sure it's MA which is th anomaly in terms of the fire sirens. The sound the same as home out here in AZ, and in NH where we used to vacation, and NY where I used to live--I actually mentioned this to JB when we heard one the other night!
You're just from FreakTown. Sorry,.
