Eep! 5.6 Earthquake just hit about ten or so minutes ago! Lasted for about seven or eight seconds, centered at Alum Rock, which is about 10 miles east of San Jose. All is well, though...no broken stuff, no insanity and wild running in the streets...

...in other words, business as usual. ;)

What's funny is that I only just now figured out what the name "Shaky Town" meant. We get earthquakes and tremors around here often enough that it has never struck me as noteworthy. The glasses are rattling in the cupboard? Hrmm, I guess that's the in-home seismograph registering a 3 or so. You know how it goes.

I could use our windows as a seismograph, but they rattle every time a large truck (or a hooptie with their music playing too honkin' loud) goes by.

I told people at work today that normal earthquakes here usually register in the Jurassic Park ripple effect in my water bottle. This one actually made my glass of soda splash around!

I would not be suited for living out there. :)

Oh, I dunno...after the fourth or fifth one, if it isn't violent, you tend to respond with "Wheeeeeeee!" :p

if it isn't violent

And if it is violent you respond with "wee" right down your leg. :)
