Yet more fun in our neighborhood

The North Beach Festival is a two-day street festival that is apparently the oldest one in the country and a hell of a lot of fun. And it's right up the street at Washington Square! :) It's June 17th and 18th so it should be an interesting weekend. Lots of food, crafts, and music.

And this band will be playing on Saturday. :p (Hey, they are a local band...)

There has been a bit of a stink being raised though, as the city isn't giving out a liquor permit for the festival. I can understand why, as in the past there have been a few altercations due to drunken idiots, but on the plus side there are loads of bars on Columbus (not to mention on Broadway too) that people could stop at. As well as Rogue which has some deeeeeeelicious Chocolate Stout.

Yeehaw!

Ears perking right up!

Chocolate stout? Does it taste like chocolate? I think we may need to put this place on the agenda for the visit.... :D

Yes it does...I think it has something like chocolate malt as well as chocolate liquer in it or something, so it tastes--and smells--like a Hershey's Bar. Very very tasty... :)

Oh, no doubt. Plus it's mere blocks from our house!

I've had the Rogue chocolate stout, and it is indeed Very Good. Didn't know there was an actual bar/pub associated with it, and I'm surprised we can get it all the way out here.

The actual "home" brewery is in Oregon somewhere, and they have brewpubs at a couple of locations in the Northwest. This one is a nice little place with decent food (including American kobe beef burgers!).

Could you do us a favor and at least PRETEND that your city doesn't RAWK so much? It's terribly depressing, really.

All my city can offer this weekend is Wizard World East, a giant collection of pasty-faced fanboys. ;)

Mmmmmm. Rogue Chocolate Stout. I think tonight I will have another brew....but which one? Mad Monk? Dragon Ale? Nay....it shall be Blithering Idiot Ale, I think.
