AAARRRRRGH!!!!!

LET IT BE KNOWN...

...that whatever music I release, whether it's on an indie label or released by myself, I REFUSE to put an FBI Piracy Warning anywhere!!!

....

...so why does this come up? Because of two things: First, I finally took a good look at the Velvet Revolver cd, and really got steamed--apparently not only is there an anti-copy code on the cd, but there's an End User Agreement you have to run in order to play the damn thing on your computer!!! (Yeah, that just made my top list as the cd I am NEVER going to buy.) And second: I like the Hives, just got their new cd the other day. Was happy to see no FBI intrusion anywhere...until I open up the cd and look at the disc itself. THE WARNING IS RIGHT ON THE DAMN CD!!!!

I swear, I'm going to start a label just so can refuse to put that damn thing on there. This thing seriously pisses me off more than the so-called Free Speech Zone in Boston.

*fume fume fume* Right. Back to work now.

I noticed it on the back of the new Cure CD too. grrr.

Speaking of the new Cure CD...I recently picked up the vinyl version from Newbury Comics. Yes, there is a vinyl version! And oddly enough, it has four extra tracks on it! Which is funny, because one of the four is the b-side to the "End of the World" 7" (which I saw there), another is a Japan-only extra track, and I have no idea where the remaining two are from. Two are okay, but the other two kick it--I'm surprised they weren't on the proper cd.

And btw, the more I listen to this new cd, the more I think it sounds like Kiss Me Cubed. It's really growing on me. "Anniversary" is probably my fave track at the moment.

Definitely about the Kiss Me Cubed. That hit me the other day when I realized you could sing "Snakepit" to nearly every song on the album. Except the one you can sing "In Your House" to.

This post prompted me to pull out the CDs I had brought to work to see what they had in the way of warning labels, since I hadn't noticed either way (they are a mixture of mainstream and indie offerings). Only one of them had anything that I could find, and it consisted of a fairly subtle "Unauthorized copying is illegal" on the back cover of the CD--nothing nearly so irritating as you mentioned. I wonder if it's the band's choice, or the label, or what?

Well, that's when you reach for your revolver.
