Random Weekend Post

Nothing too exciting to report...just did a lot of walking, a lot of watching of TV, a goodly amount of eating tasty food, and a lot of picture taking.

Atop Telegraph Hill, looking west at Russian Hill, Golden Gate Bridge, and the Marin Headlands:

Coit Tower atop Telegraph Hill:

Near the top of Telegraph Hill (at corner of TH Blvd and Lombard St), looking east downhill towards the other stretch of Lombard, the piers on the Embarcadero, and Treasure and Yerba Buena Islands in the bay (with Bay Bridge as well).

Still on Telegraph Hill, looking west down Chestnut Street towards Russian Hill.

On Grant Street, Telegraph Hill. Come on, you knew I'd end up taking a picture like this sooner or later... :p

Picture #3 above? Yeah, this is from the bottom of the hill, at the corner of Lombard and Montgomery. The third picture was taken from the lower right side, next to the house there. This one taken right about where that yellow taxi in the third picture is.

The Ferry Building and the palm trees lining the Embarcadero. This is taken from Justin Herman Plaza, where U2 played in that scene from Rattle and Hum. Kind of weird that back in 1988-89, this building was obscured by a butt-ugly overpass called the Embarcadero Freeway.

...and, this is the butt-ugly Vaillancourt Fountain, found in JH Plaza. This is the fountain Bono spraypainted in the film. Really...I don't think anyone in this city likes the fountain. It's officially called Québec libre!. Why? I have no freakin' clue. The sculptor spraypainted that phrase the night it was revealed to the public in 1971.

Inside the lobby of Hyatt Regency, near the plaza. My first thoughts of this lobby was "I have got to use this in a book somewhere..."

And one last one...
Also taken in the lobby, there's a squarish fountain there and the water basically just spills off the sides, and I thought this would make a neat arty picture. I'm using it as my wallpaper at the moment.

Hope everyone else had a spiffy weekend!
