SF FANBOY SQUEEE!!!

Okay, so I was dearly hoping that Richard Paul Russo, one of my big favorite SF authors for the last few years, would be at WorldCon this year. As far as I can tell, I saw a "Richard Russo" from Seattle listed as a contributing member, but I don't know if that's him (although I know he hails from there), or if he is in fact going to go if that is him. WOuld be cool, as I will most likely track him down and offer many writer-fanboy praises upon him.

And then I look at the updated list of participants, and who do I find?

RAY BRADBURY.

*picks up jaw from floor*

Ooooh, this is SO going to rock. The one SF writer I hold above pretty much every other SF writer out there as one of my alltime favorites. And Dandelion Wine being one of my big favorite books, too.

I cannot wait until Wednesday. ;)

Wow! That is soooo cool! Personally, I have to reread Fahrenheit 451 again every couple of years, without fail. I have Dandelion Wine on the TBR shelf. Someday I'll get to it.

I don't have to tell you to have a great time :D

O_O...I'm so jealous of you right now, meeting one of the greatest authors of our time. Please take a bunch of pictues & a SUPER detailed report.

You must read Dandelion Wine. It's an absolutely gorgeous book. It's one of his "pastoral SF" stories of a kid's summer. That was one of the books that got me writing in the first place, but I think I already told you that! :p

I shall endeavor to do my best and post pix here in good ol' LJ. :)

This is going to sound snotty no matter how I say it, so...

Ray lives in LA. There have been many book signing opps out here. I have not taken them up, however. But I did buy a nice new compiliation of a lot of his short stories which I have ALSO yet to read. However, it WOULD be really cool to meet him!!!!!!

Doesn't sound snotty at all. ;) I'm pretty sure due to his age he doesn't travel very far, so this is actually a great opportunity for me to meet him! :)
