Midweek Update Throws In the Towel (for Now)

OKAY, FINE, APARTMENT COMPLEX STORY. BE THAT WAY.

I'm equally annoyed with myself and at the AC project, because I tried for three and a half months to make the damn thing work, and I wasn't getting anywhere with it. Each attempt went absolutely nowhere. So I'm putting it on the back burner for a while. I don't want to use up any more of my time trying to make something work that won't work at this time.

I won't say it's wasted time, though. I've been writing In My Blue World on the side, and that one's coming along just fine with minimal issues so far. And like I said over at my other blog, that's saving me from that feeling of failure. (You know the one, all writers get it.) Plus, the AC project did make me rethink my writing process quite a bit. It forced me to think in different ways. In the end I conceded that maybe I'm not ready to write this one. Or more to the point, that it's not ready to be written just yet.

Sure, I'm annoyed, but I'm moving on. I'm actually looking forward to trying out something else in its place. I haven't decided what just yet, but I'm kind of leaning towards reviving Can't Find My Way Home, which has been on the back burner since our last apartment, nearly nine years ago. I've picked it up and played with it for a line or two, or read the outline I had, but that's about it. Maybe it's time to revive it again.

And yes, the fact that I would in effect be writing not one but TWO novels involving time travel is not lost on me. I run towards insane writing goals, not from them. Heh.

ANYWAY. Onward and upward.

comments
