Finally getting over it

Not sure if it was a cold, or allergies, or both, but I'm finally seeing the end of it after two weeks. I was either constantly nose-blowing, congested, or coughing, and it would wake me up constantly in the middle of the night. And thankfully this morning I woke up feeling surprisingly rested with a much clearer head. The sniffles are still there but at slight allergy levels now, and I haven't had a scratchy or phlegmy throat since yesterday, so I'm hoping I'm on the mend.

It did take a bit of wind out of me, but I had the foresight to use whatever energy I had post-work (or pre-work) to focus on the Trilogy Remaster, and whip off an easy 750Words entry. That was about it, however, so my blogs fell by the wayside. Hopefully this coming week I'll be back on track there.

Thankfully, next week's work schedule is going to be mostly opens which means I'll be able to catch up a lot easier and not have to shoehorn too much work in not enough hours! I just have the one midshift (plus a bonus sixth day to cover the other bookkeeper on Sunday, but that should be uneventful). I've got today and tomorrow off, and I'm using the time to sleep in, catch up and relax a bit.

Hope everyone has a good week!

comments

Things and Stuff

Currently at home sick, trying to fight a sore throat and some serious congestion. Head's pounding and spinny and my stomach has been going from upset to ravenous and I just want to lay around watching Christmas movies or something silly like that. I blame that woman about five cubicles away (no idea who she is, she's on a different team) who's been hacking up a lung the last few weeks. Not worrying about the job though. That's dropped considerably on my priority list over the years.

Day Jobbery continues as expected. It's not exactly terrible, but I'm still pissed off that I have to be there four times a week. I've been making the best use of my time there by continuing my Daily Words during slow times. I'm still playing by the rules (sort of) and doing what needs doing and scheduling vacations and whatnot. I don't know how long I'll be here, but I may as well keep up the facade in the meantime, yeah?

Writing continues as expected, and I'm actually more productive than I'd expected, so I can't complain!

But yeah. I don't remember the last time I worked myself sick in Q4. To exhaustion, sure, but to illness? Probably not since my Yankee Candle days!

comments

Midweek Update Feels a Little Better, Thanks

Multiple doses of cold and allergy medicine and Airborne seems to have done the trick, though there were a few times I was tempted to call in sick and take the day off. It was mostly gone by yesterday afternoon, leaving only allergies and a hell of a sinus headache. Yay for breathing again!

In other news, the course of the Apartment Complex story has taken quite an unexpected and very interesting route. Well, more to the point -- it's going in the direction I'd WANTED it to go in the first place (finally!), and it's opening up more history about the characters than I'd expected. I think utilizing the process that I did over the last few weeks did the trick! It's given me a lot to think about, that's for sure. More on this later on when I have more to report!

As for In My Blue World, I am definitely in Act III of this novel, and I think I'm coming close to the climax. The tricky part here -- as it always is with any novel I write -- is that I get super detailed and deliberate on the pacing. I'd hate to rush the ending, even though this is just the first rough draft. There's a lot of plot points to thread together, and I need to do them perfectly and in the right order. The other tricky part is once I'm done, which is the revision. And OH MAN that first revision is almost always hell. Pointless bits I need to excise, important later bits that I have to build up earlier in the story. And yet somehow I always look forward to it...? Go figure.

Hope everyone's having a good week! :)

comments
