TWO blog entries on a weekend? Geez, I spoil y'all. :p

Today is the 'I need to get my homework done -- you know, the homework I should have done last week' kind of Sunday we all know and love. After taking a week off from writing the WP blogs and the 750 and other things, it's time for me to get started on them again. Which means that at some point today I'll have to hole up in Spare Oom and get to work!

One of the things I need to get started on -- and this kind of annoys me -- is that I believe I need to start the Apartment Complex story over again, making this attempt number four. I'm three months and about five chapters in and I'm still not happy with it. I'll be honest, I'm less angry about having to start over once again and more annoyed with myself with my attempts to talk myself into believing that what I had wasn't so bad, it just needed some revision. It's one of my worst habits as a writer, really; I'll try to save this sinking ship by believing that it's salvageable and all I need to do is just revise it.

Unfortunately it suffers from what I call 'let's go out for hamburgers'. [It's a reference to something I wrote way back in fifth grade, where someone read one of my (many) unfinished stories, and that's the only bit of action that was in the story that I'd gotten to.] The further I was getting with this, the more I had to realize that this wasn't a story at all -- it was just me trying to force static characters into minor action.

So it's about damn time I called it and started over, AGAIN, the RIGHT way.

*sigh*

Yo ho ho, it's the writer's life for me.

comments
