Man, it's hard to be a positive tweeter when you just want to kick all those bigoted rightwing idiots in the nads. Repeatedly. But I digress.

This has in fact taught me something, I think. Aversion therapy, I think. I have to remember that the Twitter universe is most definitely NOT the entirety of the world. I've proven this already, by my amazing inability to find nearly any of my college friends on there or on Facebook (I'm in touch with maybe three of them). I'd rather want to know what's gong on in the world via a reputable media channel than hearsay or opinion, primarily because the latter is usually far from being accurate.

As someone on FB said earlier today: "We need to control guns, but we also need to understand that media is driving anger, which is driving violence, and we need to get a handle on the anger too."

I think that might be part of it. A vicious cycle that feeds on itself. I see anger and get angry, and get angry at myself for being so reactive. And in turn get angry because I'm wasting time and emotional energy.

It's a work in progress, I guess. And it's only the 7th. So I can still try to turn this around for myself.

We shall see.

comments
