Jobs I've Had
--Victory Supermarket: bagger, cleaning, etc.--summer 1986, I think?
--Athol YMCA: Maintenance, Hall Monitor--1986-7 (did a lot of writing here of the IWN)
--WCAT 700 AM, Orange MA: Producer (that is, listened to satellite feed and played occasional local commercials during breaks)--fall 1987 to spring 1988 -- got this job via
head58 and a few others. Got a lot of writing done here too!
--Athol DPW, Cemetery Park & Tree Division -- summer 1989. Mowed cemeteries, cleared sides of roads, listened to way too much music on my walkman
--Emerson College Library Media Center: front desk -- fall 1989 - spring 1990. Work-study job, and to this day one of my all-time favorites. TONS of writing done here, as well as catching up on movies.
--Athol DPW, CP&T Div. -- summer 1990. The last time I headed back home for the summer. I spent more time doing roadside work than cemetery work, but it was fun nonetheless!
--Emerson College Library Media Center -- fall 1990 - spring 1993. Came back to the same work-study job and stayed there for two summers as well. Even more writing done here! :p
--DeLuca's Market, Boston: bagger, stocker, cashier, etc. -- summer 1993. Worked at the original store on Charles Street for the summer. The only job I was ever officially fired from.
--Harvard Coop, Longwood Branch, Brookline MA: cashier, then S/R -- fall 1993 - spring 1994. Not the best of jobs, but interesting nonetheless. Worked in the bookstore in the basement, first as a cashier, then as a shipper/receiver (and so starts the long road of S/R for me...). Quit out of frustration.
--Various temp jobs, Boston MA -- spring 1994. Too numerous and painful to mention, but they included telemarketing (*shudder*), data entry, filing, envelope stuffing, and whatever else. Sucktastic.
--Brigham's Ice Cream, Boston MA: The McJob -- spring to winter 1994. Definitely not the best of jobs, but it had its moments. Did some writing during this time, met D., wrote True Faith, met Stephen Wright. Gads, this has to be the most depressing section of my resume, no?
--Sony Theatre, Somerville MA: ticket sales, floorstaff -- winter 1994 to fall 1995. Feel like your life is going nowhere? :p Not too much happening, but saw way too many movies, ate too much bad food, got broke, moved back home.
--Sony Theatre, Leominster MA: ticket sales, floorstaff -- fall 1995 to winter 1995. Thank god I was able to transfer, or else I don't know what I'd have done for a job. Didn't stay here long, though. The first inkling of the trilogy started here with a lot of reading in the ticket booth of new-agey books.
--WCAT 700 AM/99.9 FM, Orange, MA: Producer again, this time juggling between the AM and the FM stations. Not a glamorous job at all, but it was a paycheck. Starting over again in a way, I suppose. The only other job I quit without two weeks' notice, due to hours being severely cut and not being able to collect unemployment when I most needed it.
--Athol Savings Bank, Athol MA -- summer to fall 1996. Unofficial job of data entry assistant. That is, scanning bank info into the system.
--HMV Record Store, Marlborough MA: lone shipper/receiver -- fall 1996 to spring 2000. OMG, a job I held for more than six months (not including the library)!! My dream job for a number of years...except the pay sucked after awhile, and my leaving wasn't on the best of terms. This job caused me to acquire an absurdly large music collection, of course.
--Yankee Candle Company, Deerfield MA: Trafficking/Shipping, spring 2000 - spring 2005. In all honesty, working with candles isn't as bad as you think. You get used to the smell after awhile. Especially in 2001, when the department moved to a new building, away from the candle-making department. Lots of friends made, a lot of sciatic nerves twinged, and I can now say I've been OSHA-approved to use certain heavy equipment. Go me!

--Cendant Corporation, Parsippany NJ: Accounts Payable, spring - summer 2005. Temp job, and one I was good at, and one I stayed longer than a few days at. It's funny how much of this particular job I brought with me to my current one. Left as they were downsizing the department.
--PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Parsippany NJ: "Document Retention", summer - winter 2005. I put that job in quotes because it was quite possibly the most boring temp job I've ever had: scanning documents. I got a lot of LJ posting and music listening done here.

--Bank of America, San Francisco CA: data entry as a temp, spring - fall 2006. Pretty simple job, actually...although it could get frustrating during training sessions when seasoned veterans couldn't quite figure out the system that was actually quite easy to use. Was offered below job when this one was being downsized.
--Bank of America, San Francisco CA: Customer Service Phone Rep, fall 2006 - winter 2007. You've heard the complaints I had about this job. The less said the better.
--Bank of America, San Francisco CA: Global EDI, winter 2007 - present. Still learning the ropes, but it's a fun job!
